Robin Coupar, a native of Edinburgh, Scotland, is a leading whisk(e)y expert and professional, currently responsible for the marketing of the Fine Whisky portfolio at Campari America. Brands include single malt Scotch whiskies; Bowmore, Glenrothes, Auchentoshan, Glen Grant and Glen Garioch. He is also responsible for Russell’s Reserve small batch Kentucky bourbon.
A graduate of the University of Manchester, England, Coupar then obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Business and Marketing at Glasgow Caledonian University, Scotland. His career in the Scotch Whisky industry began at United Distillers (now Diageo) in 1994 in Glasgow, Scotland where he worked in supply planning. In 1996 he relocated to the Perth office where he took the role of Customer Operations Manager for the off premise specialist channel. In 1998 he left the now Diageo and moved to Glenmorangie Plc where he performed a number of Sales roles including Sales Manager, Latin America. In 2003 he was relocated to San Francisco to become the Brand Ambassador for Glenmorangie and Ardbeg Single Scotch whiskies. In 1997 he left the Scotch business and took on the role of On Premise Sales Manager for Moet Hennessy for Northern California.
After a stint of selling fine wines, champagne and other distilled spirits, he was lured back to the Scotch whisky business and in March 2008, and joined Skyy Spirits LLC as Brand Manager for The Glenrothes single malt Scotch whisky. At the beginning of 2010 he was promoted to Senior Brand Manager for the Fine whiskies portfolio.
Coupar lives in Lafayette, California and is married with two children, Gavin who is four and a half and Isla who is three. Apart from whisk(e)y his passion in life is travel and following the fortunes (or lack of them) of Heart of Midlothian soccer team his beloved Scotland rugby team.
